Chaal Jeevi Laiye! (transl. Come, let's live!) is a 2019 Indian Gujarati-language comedy-drama road film written and directed by Vipul Mehta. Produced by Rashmin Majithia, the film stars Siddharth Randeria, Yash Soni and Aarohi Patel.[2] The soundtrack was composed by Sachin–Jigar.[3] It is the highest grossing Gujarati film of all time.

Plot[edit]
In his quest to become successful entrepreneur, Aditya Parikh puts life on the back burner, including his father Bipin Chandra Parikh who was later diagnosed with pontine glioma. Aditya agrees to take his father to Uttarakhand to fulfill his last wishes where he accidentally meet a backpacker named Ketki Mehta. The journey turns out to be an experience with surprises and realizations of their way to happiness and closeness.

The film was released in India on 1 February 2019.[6] Following success, it was released in Australia on 14 March 2019, and in New Zealand, and United Kingdom on 15 March 2019.[7] The film completed 100 days in cinemas on 12 May 2019.[8]

According to Bookmyshow, an online ticket booking website, the film earned around ₹44 lakh (US$64,000) on its first day and almost ₹7 crore (US$1.0 million) in first week.[1] According to trade analyst Komal Nahta, the film became the highest-grossing film of Gujarati cinema.[9][10] BookMyShow estimated the gross of ₹32 crore (US$4.6 million), as of May 2019.[1] The film earned around ₹54 lakh (US$78,000) in Australia, ₹9 lakh (US$13,000) in New Zealand, and ₹6 lakh (US$8,700) in United Kingdom.[7]
Critics[edit]
The film received mostly positive reviews by the critics. Shruti Jambhekar of The Times of India rated it 4 out of 5 and praised the director for screenplay, editing, cinematography, music and performances.[2] Saurabh Shah rated it 4 out of 5 and praised direction, music and performances but criticised the length of the climax.[11]Mid-day Gujarati noted the trend of films based on the father-son relationships and gave a positive review.[12] Tushar Dave writing for Sarjak.org praised the film for its message, cinematography, music and performances of lead actors but criticised some dialogues, melodrama, performance of Aruna Irani and length of the climax.[13]
